GEDORE Automotive is a medium-sized, internationally active company based in Donaueschingen.
We develop and produce high-quality and innovative special tools for vehicle maintenance.
GEDORE Automotive GmbH was founded in Donaueschingen in 1978 under the name KLANN Spezial-Werkzeugbau GmbH. We have been part of the GEDORE Group of Companies since 2002. In the course of the GEDORE brand integration on 01.01.2016, KLANN Spezial-Werkzeugbau GmbH became GEDORE Automotive GmbH.
With around 100 patents and utility models in Germany and abroad, GEDORE Automotive GmbH is one of the world's leading manufacturers of special tools.
Whether assembly, maintenance or repairs, it is impossible to imagine today's workshop without special tools. When it comes to carrying out, facilitating and optimising repair work on motor vehicles, the special tools from GEDORE Automotive GmbH are used all over the world.
Our primary aim is to make repairs safer, easier, faster and therefore more cost-effective. To achieve this, we develop innovative special tools for all vehicle types in our own test workshop. In doing so, it is essential to react quickly to market requirements. We produce with state-of-the-art technology and train directly on the vehicle in our test workshop.

With a global sales network and production locations worldwide, GEDORE is one of the global players in the hand and special tools sector. From development and design to production with our own toolmaking facilities - GEDORE is the reliable partner for industry, crafts and discerning private users when it comes to high-quality standardised and individual tool solutions and services from a single source. In addition to highly qualified employees, we also rely on over 100 years of forging expertise and state-of-the-art manual and automated manufacturing processes.
GEDORE Automotive offers standardised and individual tool solutions for the maintenance of motor and commercial vehicles and has been part of the GEDORE Group since 2002, which is represented in more than 70 countries worldwide. The company headquarters and main production facility are located in Remscheid, Germany's best-known tool city.
In addition to the headquarters in Remscheid, where GEDORE hand tools and OCHSENKOPF forestry tools are manufactured, and the GEDORE Automotive site in Donaueschingen, other manufacturing subsidiaries are located in Germany and Austria. Another forging centre is located in Waldkirchen. The specialists for sophisticated high-torque tools from GEDORE Torque Solutions are located in Vaihingen an der Enz and the competence centre for the development and manufacture of pliers, GEDORE Austria, is based in Austria.
Another GEDORE Torque Competence Centre is located in Great Britain. The company's own plants in South Africa and Brazil produce tools in order to serve the local markets with tools of the familiar and reliable quality "made by GEDORE".

1978 - 2001: From Donaueschingen into the world
1978
Foundation of the KLANN company in Donaueschingen, specialist for the development, manufacture and worldwide distribution of special tools for the repair of motor vehicles.
1988
Foundation of KLANN Tools Ltd. in England with the aim of consolidating KLANN's international position.
1992
After 14 years in Breslauer Straße 31, the present company building is erected 10 house numbers further on. There KLANN is housed on a plot of 15,000 m² and a floor space of 5,600 m² with administration, warehouse and modern machinery.
1998
Foundation of KLANN France S.A.R.L. northwest of Paris.
2001
Foundation of KLANN Tools Inc. in the USA to establish a presence in the American market.
2002 - 2021: From Klann to GEDORE Automotive
2002
The floor space in Donaueschingen is expanded by 1,300 m². The storage area is enlarged and a multifunctional testing and training room is created.
KLANN becomes a partner in the GEDORE Group.
2010
KLANN Tools UK moves to Skipton.
2016
The renowned supplier of specialist tools for vehicle assembly, maintenance and repair is now fully integrated into the Group.
As part of the Automotive Division, in which GEDORE pools its industry expertise, Klann-Spezial-Werkzeugbau GmbH now trades as GEDORE Automotive GmbH.
2021
The new logo addition "Klann Experience" refers to the roots from which the branch for the automotive competence of the corporate group emerged: the long-standing know-how of Klann Spezial-Werkzeugbau GmbH has been integrated into GEDORE Automotive and is constantly being further developed.
